“NET PAY” OF BOXERS AKIN TO “SLAVERY”

San Francisco, CA– The most important part of being a professional of any kind is to “make money.” In the reality of things, title belts are such that very few fighters per capita will capture. In some instances, boxers are still getting paid $100 a round, a figure in place since for preliminary guys since the 1980s.

TITLE BELTS DON’T FEED YOUR FAMILY

Case in point, heavyweight Alex Stewart of the late 80s to early 90s, never fought for a title. And yet, the Jamaican who was guided by Gerry Cooney’s Whacko Twins Dennis Rappaport & Mike Jones, netted the upside of $2 million.

MOST IMPORTANT CONFLICT THAN ALI-FRAZIER

Although I have constituents on both sides of the fence, those siding with “The Boxing Establishment” and not Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions concept, what they fail to realize is that this current era of The Establishment have failed for 50 years to make things better for both the fighter and fans alike.

COTTO FLED TOP RANK PLANTATION & GOT PAID

On the subject of paying an upper echelon boxer adequately, we go to Miguel Cotto. After being with Bob Arum for better than 30 fights, Cotto says he made more money in his first two fights after leaving Top Rank, than he did in a decade plus with Arum. AGAIN, he made more money in just two fights on his own than he did in his entire carrer with Arum.

ALI LAW “WATERED DOWN” BY REID

One of the campaigns Bob Arum has continually funded over the years was outgoing Nevada Sen. Harry Reid, a former amateur boxer. People wonder why the law and the Assn. of Boxing Commissions is impotent when it comes to governing boxing in general, it’s because Reid stripped the enforcement from the bill.

GUYS STILL FIGHT FOR $100 BUCKS A ROUND IN 2015

The United States has practiced “Trickle Down” economics since the Reagan era. Stealing a line from another broadcaster, “We (boxers) got the down, but we never got the trickle.” The Establishment (as a whole) has failed to advocate for either the fighter or the fan.

ARUM NEAR “BILLIONAIRE” OFF PAY PER VIEW ALONE

Bob Arum has filed suit against Al Haymon. The Assn. of Boxing Commissions has only made one request to the Dept. of Justice for an investigation, this when the ABC (see Establishment) asked that they give Al Haymon a Government Colonoscopy a couple of months ago.

PBC VS. BOXING ESTABLISHMENT IS 2015 ALI-FRAZIER

Haymon’s group has signed somewhere around 150 fighters, both champions, contenders and pretenders. Why ink pretender types? Because for every Oscar De La Hoya you have at 25-0, there had to be 25 guys to fight.

B FIGHTERS LIKE COLLAZO TREATED “RIGHT”

An excellent example is opponent type Luis Collazo, a veteran with a 33-6-1, 19 KOs record got $500,000 or the MOST he’s ever made this past Saturday in losing to Keith Thurman, who got $1.5 million for an ESPN fight. My sources say it’s record pay for a network that’s been doing boxing for over 30 years.

BOXERS LOVE “UNCLE AL” BEFORE & AFTER

Former champ Austin Trout lost two significant fights in succession to Erislandy Lara and Canelo Alvarez, arguably the two best at 154 lbs. In his next fight, Trout got an unheard of $ix figure purse for an ESPN 2 outing from Haymon.

TYSON TRAINER “HAYMON TRAIN ON RIGHT TRACK”

Ex-Mike Tyson trainer Aaron Snowell weighed in on The Establishment’s move to neuter Al Haymon from a business point of view. “He’s paying the fighters well. The fights are back on FREE TV and not Pay Per View. That makes him good for boxing. There is some gray area in the Muhammad Ali Act and once that is put straight, I think Haymon will win and Bob Arum will just have to retire angry.” And he will!
