ESTABLISHMENT LAUNCHES FRIVOLOUS LAW SUIT
San Francisco, CA– News source TMZ quoting Top Rank boxing promoter Bob Arum says Arum is accusing fellow Harvard alumni Al Haymon of “monopolizing and rigging” boxing.
SUIT “CONTRARY” TO FIGHTER’S FEELINGS?
According to the suit, Top Rank claims Haymon has been using unsavory tactics to monopolize the boxing industry, including illegally blocking fights, blocking venues and freezing out other promoters, including Top Rank and Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports company.
ARUM LIKE THOSE GAY WEDDING FOES!
Going after Haymon here sort of reminds me of the folks that tried to block Gay weddings and Health Care. In the end, they were rebuffed by the Supreme Court.
BOB SAYS AL PAYING “RIDICULOUS PURSES”
Top Rank claims Haymon had Peter Quillin refuse $1.4 million because Jay Z had won the right to promote the fight and Haymon didn’t want Roc Nation getting into the boxing game. The subtitle above in quotes from Arum seems to be an endorsement of Haymon.
FRIVOLOUS SUIT OR NOT?
On Haymon’s side are the fighters who are making more than they would with Top Rank. Arum is going after Haymon and his financial backers, the Waddell & Reed investment group for Fraud and Conspiracy. I will reach out to Premier Boxing Champions for comment Thursday.
