BRAZILIAN AUTHORITIES MAKE MOVE AFTER PRIVATE PROBE INTO ARTURO GATTI’S DEATH
San Francisco, CA– Although I didn’t expect it, Brazilian Police authorities are reopening the case of Arturo Gatti and his untimely death in July 2009. At first, it seemed that Amanda Rodrigues Gatti, the sole suspect in the case, would be charged with Murder. But after three weeks, the Brazilian cops released her sans any charges. This brought about an uproar, at least from the perspective of this ex-Policeman and Licensed Private Investigator, as well as the Gatti family and his manager Pat Lynch.
PEOPLE CAME FORWARD TO SAY AMANDA THREATENED TO KILL GATTI
Although I take the testimony of some people with a grain of salt, having been recognized as an expert witness in California Superior Courts on Narcotics, Street Crime, and in one county, boxing, I wasn’t surprised that during the Private Investigation probe ordered by the Gatti clan and Lynch, that three people came forward and said that Amanda told them, “I’m going to be a real bitch. I’m going to kill him.” To some of you that alone sounds like a death threat. But knowing women like I do, having been involved in Domestic Civil Cases before, she may have been just referring to “taking all his money” through a divorce.
GATTI WAS NO ANGEL FOLKS!
A borderline, if not certified alcoholic, I saw Gatti drunk a number of times when I was in Atlantic City. Most, if not all of the times, Gatti was not fighting himself, but rather a fight spectator who after the bouts ended up drinking at a strip of bars near the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Plus, and I know this may hurt Arturo’s mom, but with all the punishment he received in his career, one would think that he would be suffering some “residual effects” from the beatings. I mean, even in what was tabbed as an “easy fight,” Gatti was known to take punishment. And be advised, that doesn’t take into consideration the fact the damage incurred while training (sparring) for these fights.
IT IS CERTAIN THAT THE PURSE STRAP WAS THE CAUSE OF DEATH!
There are two prisms that have been put forth since this occurred in 2009. The first was Gatti was garroted (strangled) after being hit on the head by wife Amanda, this after a turbulent night of partying, arguing and drinking. At one point, the Gatti’s, at a drinking establishment, got into a big (loud) fight that resulted in Amanda going back to the hotel they were staying at alone. According to this version, Gatti returned drunk as a skunk, fell asleep, or was knocked unconscious by Amanda, this before she strangled him with her purse strap.
THE SUICIDE VERSION
Brazilian Police said that after an investigation in 2009, that Arturo had hung himself with the purse strap. After examining photos of the strap, it was clear to me that that it could not hold a 175 lb. man in a hanging position, it was impossible. Gatti’s investigators determined that the purse strap broke at 70 lbs., or 105 less than the former world boxing champion weighed, proving my theory to be correct. Somehow the Police didn’t take into consideration the blunt force trauma to Gatti’s head, at first being of the opinion that the injury took place after he had hung himself, the strap broke and he hit the ground.
GATTI’S FAMILY IN COURT OVER HIS MONEY
Said to be worth $6.5 million US, Gatti had just weeks prior to his death, changed his entire will and gave everything to Amanda and their newborn son. The Gatti family, anchored by Gatti’s mom, initiated a Civil suit against Amanda Rodrigues Gatti in Canada, which was has been ongoing. But with the revelations brought out in yesterday’s Press Conference, that litigation “appears” now to be on hold as the Brazilian Police re-investigate the case in light of the new evidence brought forth by the Private Investigators.
60-40 CHANCE AMANDA WILL NOT BE CHARGED HERE!
Further into this article, you will see a News Clip Video from a Montreal TV station that talks about the battle between the Gatti family and Amanda Rodrigues Gatti over his fortune. Having always felt this case was a murder, I was stunned to see Rodrigues released from jail three weeks after Gatti’s death. That being said, from a Law Enforcement point of view and that of a Private Investigator, I think there’s a 40% chance that Amanda Rodrigues Gatti is charged here with the death of her husband. While all the Canadian and American Forensic experts, as well as people like myself can say that they think a suicide is virtually impossible, Brazilian officials, some known to be corrupt, won’t be eager to admit they made a grave error two years ago.
RODRIQUES HAD MORE THAN ONE VERSION!
Amanda first told Police that “an intruder” got into the suite in which they were staying and killed her husband. With the electronic locks being able to determine who entered the room and when, that story ended up being a tale of fiction, as she entered the room first, then came Gatti, and nobody else entered or exited the room after that. Adding fuel to the murder theory, the death was not reported until Gatti had been dead for at least 12 hours, with Amanda stating she didn’t discover his body until she came downstairs, about 15 hours after she entered the room, and 13 after Gatti had done so. With the lies, a motive, the vicious temper, and of course the purse strap not being strong enough to support a 175 lb. man, it seems quite obvious to me that Amanda Rodriques Gatti murdered Arturo Gatti!
