DOES DEONTAY WILDER HAVE “FRANCHISE” FIGHTER LOOKS?
San Francisco, CA– Although I will get deep into whether or not Al Haymon Boxing can make it with their current lineup of headliners, mid-carders and opponents in a special next week, the real money and hope for Premier Boxing Champions is on unbeaten American heavyweight and WBC belt bearer Deontay Wilder.
WILDER FIGHTS AGAIN ON NBC FOR FREE
Now 33 & 0 with 32 whacks, at 6’7 the 2008 Bronze medal winner has had but one modest test in Bermaine Stiverne (W UD 12). Outside of that, Wilder has lived on soft touches who were “certifiable” losers with little or NO chance of prevailing. Now the Alabama native trained by 1984 Olympic king Mark Breland is set to dine on another mackerel when he meets Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20KOs) of France Saturday on NBC.
DUHAUPAS HAS AS MUCH CHANCE OF…HE HAS NO CHANCE
I’ve said earlier here that Wilder has gotten fat on opponents who were “mackerel” fish types that presented little threat. That being said, Johann Duhaupas has fought more stiffs than the retired sideshow attraction that was Butterbean Esch. Guys that were 1-21, 3-64, you get the drift I’m sure. The only thing the Frenchman has going for him is that he’s 6’5.
LIKE HITTING BASEBALLS OFF A TEE
Outside of that, Wilder whacks this guy like a little leaguer hitting a baseball off a tee. If it goes six, I’d be surprised. If it goes six, Wilder’s stock value drops accordingly. WILDER, IS HE THE KEY TO PBC?
In the old days, he who controls the heavyweight champion controlled boxing. Today, the world heavyweight champ is Wladimir Klitschko who is willing to face Wilder in 2016. Question is, will Wilder be ready? And he is just a “temp” champ until 2012 Olympic champ Anthony Joshua gets a shot?
