DONAIRE SENDS MESSAGE TO MANNY THE EMPEROR!
Anaheim, CA = Nonito Donaire, (118 lbs), San Leandro, CA KO 4 Volodmyr Sydorenko, (117.6), Kiev, Ukraine. Two-division world champion Donaire (25-1, 17 KOs) needed to look spectacular in order to climb out of Manny Pacquiao’s shadow. He did that and more. Donaire simply ran through former WBA bantamweight (118) champion Sydorenko (22-3-2, 7 KOs). After being staggered early, Sydorenko was dropped with a stunning combination at the end of round one. Sydorenko was down again, courtesy of a big left hand from Donaire in round three. The former champion Sydorenko finally wilted and was down for the count in round four. Time was 1:40.

Though Antillon tired in he last two rounds, was it not for referee Ray Corona deducting a point from Antillon in round five for a low blow this instant classic would have been a draw. SHOBOX FRIDAY NIGHT
Santa Yenz, CA– Lateff Kayod (199.25), Hollywood, CA KO 6 Ed Perry, (198.75), Lafayette, IN. Kayod (15-0, 14 KOs) and Perry (18-5-2, 11 KOs) had the all too often seen feeling out first round, Perry seemed to forget about defense from then on. In the fourth Perry took a knee after a body shot and it was only a matter of time as to when the fight would be stopped. That came at 0:51 of the sixth round when another body shot had Perry kneeling for the ten count.
Luis Franco, (125.5 lbs), Miami, FL W DQ8 Eric Hunter, (125.5 lbs), Philadelphia, PA. Franco (8-0, 5 KOs) was in control of the more experienced Hunter (15-2, 8 KOs) from the opening bell. In round number two, a foul-fest began as Hunter was penalized a point for a low blow. The deduction didn’t stop Hunter from aiming below the belt and landing, mixing in a shoulder and headbutt or two. Franco wasn’t fazed by the fouls in a fight he was easily winning. Time was 2:34.
