San Francisco, CA– Every fight is a two way street. The difference between the victor and loser is the amount of traffic going in one direction. Everybody knows that Manny Pacquiao deserves to be a decided favorite over Antonio “POS” Margarito tonight when Top Rank comes with a PPV card emanating from Dallas, TX.
THREE THINGS UP FRONT
First up, promoter Bob Arum is the winner, this even before the bell rings seeing he has both guys. Secondly, it is Manny Pacquaio’s fight to lose. And lastly, it is Antonio Margarito’s fight to win.
IF PAC LOSES
, NATION GOES ON PROZAC
The betting favorite, Pacquiao, should he lose to Margarito, the boxing world would be stunned and the Philippines would sink into a state of depression unseen since since president in exile Ninoy Aquino Sr. was murdered on the tarmac of a Manila runway, this seconds after stepping on Philippine ground by those working for then dictator/president Marcos .
NO COLLEGE DEGREE NEEDED HERE
The game plan is pretty simple. Pacquaio, the smaller faster fighter who is keft handed, he will want to be darting in and out, landing clean punches sans much return fire. He will need to clutch and hold at times, not in a lohn John Ruiz-like mode, but instead grab Antonio before he can start the rough housing inside.
MARGO’S PUNCHES ARE TELEGRAPHED
Being in the position of having to slip and or duck Margarito’s looping punches, Pac should see them from the wind up in left field. In addition to avoiding incoming punches, Manny Pacquiao must close the distance with his four or five inch taller foe. In and out , or in, hit and grab, this is a wining formula for Manny Pacquiao.
NOT HARD TO FIND ANTONIO
Not known to back away from punches, Pacquiao will not have to look for Margarito. You could could close your eyes and still land punches as Tony comes in on a line, as if he were a fog being pulled on a leash. That being said, Margarito will need to fight big and heavy here. If he doesn’t, what Shane Mosley did to him will pale in comparison to what the fiery fisted Filipino will do.
EITHER MARG IS JOHN HOLMES OR HE LOSES!
Size is really all that Margarito has on paper when it comes to advantages over Pacquiao. The need to overwhelm Pac from the start is crucial to Margarito.
MANNY NEEDS TO START FAST & IN COMMAND
Both guys need to start well, especially Pacquiao. Having not fought from behind since the first Erik Morales fight, should Pac lose the first few frames, he will be very close to uncharted waters/ Fighting from behind and against a bigger man, this is not an enviable position and Pac needs to avoid this at all costs.
GREAT GUYS CAN BEAT BIGGER GUYS
A good big man beats a good little man, that’s the old adage applied to prize fighting. But there are exceptions to the rule, and thus far Manny is the exception having gone from 107 to 147 lbs. But every little guy, he eventually met a bigger guy that would indeed beat him.
DOES THE PACMAN FACE IMMOVABLE OBJECT?
Is this the fight where the logic of being bigger prevails? The time where Manny Pacquiao runs out of four leaf clovers and gets trounced by a bigger, but far less talented fighter? I don’t think so, but hey this is professional boxing, which can sometimes be, “the theater of the deranged and unexpected!
