LESNAR DEFENDS AGAINST QUIET & DEADLY FOE

Los Angeles, CA– I do not pretend to be an expert of the sport of MMA. Unlike MMA writers who consistently talk and hope that their sport leads to boxing’s demise, well that ain’t happening. Hey, I can enjoy an MMA match without salivating over the brutality involved. I can also watch a 12 round boxing match and not become bored because my boxing acumen can appreciate skills over just brute strength and power.

RACE PLAYS HUGE ROLE IN FIGHT GAME

I can also watch fights without having to root for a fighter because of the racial background or national heritage. However in the world of combat sports, this in many retrospects make a matchup all that much more intriguing. This Saturday Brock Lesnar defends his Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight crown against a capable and legitimate threat in Mexican American Cain Velasquez.

NOBODY CAN ESTIMATE PPV NUMBERS

The fight takes place in Anaheim Ca, at the Honda Center. Unless you live under a shell, you know that Southern California is heavily populated by Hispanics, mainly first and second generation Mexican Americans and immigrants. In the last few years MMA has become increasingly popular with that demographic with showtime suits admitting more Hispanics watch their MMA than boxing!

UNLIKE ARREOLA, CAIN IS IN SHAPE!

Last year heavyweight contender Chris Arreola became the first fighter of Mexican heritage to fight for the heavyweight crown in a losing effort with Vitali Klitschko at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Although soft spoken, Velasquez is a possible MMA superstar in the making if he can pull off what would be a considerable upset. Many experts give him a solid chance at victory.

VELASQUEZ WINS & HE COULD BREAK THE PPV BANK

A Mexican American winning here maybe a long shot, but if it were to happen in front of what I expect to be a a mixed crowd of Latino and Caucasian American fans, not only would it be a quite a feat, but it would turn both the UFC & the sports world upside down.
