Still a clearly impaired Foreman chose to continue. After a delay in the eighth round because an idiot in the Foreman corner threw a white towel “of surrender” in the ring, referee Arthur Mercante Jr. ordered the fight to continue until a left to Foreman’s body dropped him and prompting a stoppage at 0:42 of the ninth.

Vanes Martirosyan,153.75, Glendale, CA UD 10 Joe Greene,151.5, Queens, NY. Martirosyan (28-0, 17 KOs) outworks the no longer unbeaten Greene (22-1, 14 KOs) over ten mostly uneventful rounds. Martirosyan sealed the win with a knockdown of Greene in the final seconds of the fight. Scoring was 96-93 twice and 98-91.
