MANFREDO CAN STILL DRAW FANS
Uncasville, CT– Peter Manfredo Jr. 159 1/4 lbs, Providence, RI TKO 10 Angel Hernandez, 159, Chicago, IL (vacant IBO 160 lb. title) Local hero Manfredo Jr., (35-6, 19 KOs), came out strong, much to the approval of the crowd. A puffy faced Hernandez, (30-8, 17 KOs), was breathing heavily by the third round. Although arm weary Hernandez kept throwing punches albeit ineffectively, Manfredo Jr. kept the pace fast with jabs and punches to the body as he worked at a distance. A briefly reinvigorated Hernandez came on strong in rounds six and seven, rocking Manfredo Jr. at the end oaf thf sixth.
STEVE SMOGER RESCUES ANOTHER HOUSE FIGHTER?
The end came abruptly in the tenth as Manfredo Jr. was tiring, referee Steve Smoger inexplicably stepped in to save an alert but not punching Hernandez at 1:19 of the round.
Matt Remillard, 124.5, Manchester, CT TKO 4 Carlos Rivera, 126, Port Richey, FL. (NABF & NABO 126 lb. titles) In the co-feature, current NABF champion Remillard (22-0, 13 KOs) added the NABO belt. Matt Remillard delivered an accidental low blow to Rivera (16-5-2, 5 KOs) in the second round and in return suffered a cut on his right eye brow from a head butt, also accidental. In the fourth Rivera had no answer for the swarming Remillard, going to the canvas twice before being saved by referee Arthur Mercante Jr. at 2:16 of the fourth round.

Adelita Irizarry, 144, West Hartford, CT UD 4 Kita Watkins, 140.25, Tyler, TX. The extremely popular local female fighter Irizarry, (8-4, 2 KOs), showcased her all action style against the willing but less talented Watkins, (5-7, 1 KO). Scores were 40-36 and 39-37 twice.
LOTS OF PRELIM FIGHTS AT SUN
Danny O’Connor, 141 lbs, Framingham, MA UD 6 Broderick Antoine, 141, Albany, NY. If O’Connor, (12-0, 3 KOs), had any power to his punches the gutsy but mediocre Antoine, (10-10-1, 5 KOs), would have likely been taken out early in this one sided affair. Scores were 58-56, 59-55 and 60-54.
Joseph Elegele, 145.5, Melbourne, FL KO 1 John DeJean, 144, Marshall, TX. Elegele, (7-0, 5 KOs) makes quick work of a seemingly unwilling or unable to fight. DeJean, (3-4-1, 3 KOs), ending the night at 2:20 of the first.
J’Leon Love, 156, Dearborn Heights, MI UD 4 Fernando Calleros, 156, Albuquerque, NM. Love, (5-0, 4 KOs), staked his for while picking his shots effectively. The tough but outclassed Calleros, (1-2-1, 0 KOs), ends Love’s knockout streak at four. Scores were 40-36 and 39-37 twice
Logan McGuinness, 133.75, Ontario, Canada MD6 Walter Estrada, 134.75, Monteria, Columbia
McGuiness, (10-0-1, 4 KOs), displayed accurate if not powerful punching against veteran Estrada, (35-13-1, 24 KOs), who actually lost his shoe in the second round. A visibly tired McGuinness slowed in the final rounds and the game Estrada took full advantage. Scores were 57-57 twice and 58-56 for Estrada.
