San Francisco, CA– All to often I don’t have the opportunity to report on things that positively impact people’s lives, but today’s the exception. During an appearance on “Ring Talk Worldwide,” the longest running fight show in history Sunday night, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, the once beaten (26-1-1, 18 KOs) two division (126 & 130 lbs) champion from Gilroy, CA was my guest along with Andre Ward. I asked Robert about his wife Casey and her battle with cancer. “We got the word last week that Casey is cancer free,” said an ecstatic Guerrero.
“THE GHOST” WANTS OLYMPIC STEROID TESTS!
Having had one armchair fighter on staff tell me time and again that steroids and EPO don’t give a fighter any advantage, I was glad that Guerrero brought up his 2006 fight with Orlando Salido which was scratched from the books after Salido turned out to be on steroids.
“I’ve fought a guy on steroids. I hit him with punches that should have stopped anybody, and he still kept coming. I know of the unfair advantage it gives a fighter.”
LOOKING AT FIGHT WITH JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ
Having had a recent tune up at 135, Robert wants to match skills and wit with Juan Manuel Marquez, who is considered by many to be the best lightweight in the world. If things are worked out, the fight could take place this summer.
