KIMBO SLICE CONQUERER DOESN’T WASTE TIME
Las Vegas, NV– Roy Nelson, 260, Las Vegas, NV TKO 1 Stefan Struve, 240, Beverwijk, North Holland, Netherlands. Roy Big belly Nelson (15-4, 8 KOs, 4 SUBs) wasted little time dispatching Struve (19-3, 3 KOs, 14 SUBs) by knocking the near seven footer senseless. Nelson landed a crushing overhand right that sent Struve crashing to mat as Nelson followed up with strikes on the ground until referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in saving the Dutchman from further punishment.
AND THE SEASON NINE TITLE GOES TO?
Ross Pearson, 155, Sunderland, England UD 3 Dennis Siver, 155, Mannheim, Germany. Although it was a unanimous decision for Pearson (11-3, 3 KOs, 5 SUBs), the fight was somewhat competitive with Siver (15-7, 5 KOs, 8 SUBs) only slightly losing the rounds. It was another good showing for the Ultimate Fighter season nine lightweight winner Ross Pearson.
FLORIAN PREVAILS IN SNOOZER
Kenny Florian, 155, Westwood, MA SUB 3 Takanori Gomi, 155, Tokyo, Japan. Florian (13-4, 3 KOs, 9 SUBs) continued his comeback by defeating Gomi (31-6, 11 KOs, 6 SUBs) via rear naked choke in what was mostly a lackluster affair. Gomi appeared to have a lot of trouble pulling the trigger and his performance clearly showed he is without a doubt already past his prime at 31. Florian controlled the first two rounds with the jab until wrapping it up on the ground after scoring a well timed takedown.
MIDDLEWEIGHTS WEIGH 185 IN UFC
Jorge Rivera, 185, Amherst, MA TKO 2 Nate Quarry, 185, Gresham, OR. Rivera (18-7, 12 KOs, 2 SUBs) looked focus and confident from the get go and was able to rock Quarry (12-4, 7 KOs, 2 SUBs) on several occasions throughout the first round. In the second stanza, Rivera put his man away for good with strikes.
