SHOWTIME WINS PUTS DIRRELL BACK IN 168 MIX
Detroit, MI– Andre Dirrell, 167.5, Flint, MI WDQ 11 Arthur Abraham, 168, Berlin, Germany. Abraham (31-1, 25 KOs) after being dominated by Dirrell (19-1, 13 KOs) the first two rounds was dropped in the fourth and cut over the right eye in the seventh. A desperate Abraham caught and dropped Dirrell in the tenth although it was erroneously called a slip. In the next round, Dirrell slipped and was knocked senseless by Abraham while on a knee. The referee Laurence Cole had no other option but to disqualify a shocked Abraham at 1:13 of the eleventh. Scores at the time were 97-92 twice and 98-91 for Dirrell.

In a tougher than expected fight Morales (49-6, 34 KOs) shook off two and a half years of rust to outwork former lightweight champion Alfaro (23-6, 20 KOs). Both fighters had their moments, but the Morales of old came on strong to end the fight and earn scores of 116-112 twice and 117-111.
