New York, NY– Boxing’s stacked winter schedule continues this weekend featuring three televised cards on Friday and another on Saturday.

SHO BOX RETURNS WITH A BANG

Undefeated bantamweight (118) Chris Avalos (14-0, 11 KOs) squares off against Jose Nieves (17-1-3, 8 KOs) in a scheduled 10 rounder from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM, live, Friday night on Showtime at 11 PM ET.

AVALOS IS MADE FOR TV

With his explosive one punch knockout power and reckless abandon for defense, Chris Avalos has displayed a TV friendly style by accompanying the sound with the fury.

YOU’RE ONLY AS GOOD AS YOU FINISH

Beginning his career in 2001, southpaw Jose Neives was unbeaten over 18 contests (16-0-2) but for reasons unknown has only fought three times since ’06 going 1-1-1.

LOCAL KID LOOKS TO IMPRESS IN OPENER

In the co-feature bout, local hero Archie Ray Marquez (9-0, 7 KOs) will risk his perfect record against experienced pug Derrick Campos (20-7, 11 KOs) in an 8 round lightweight (130) bout.

WARRIOR RETURNS TO SHOWTIME

I’m happy to report that highly regarded announcer Nick Charles will return to duty after a five-month battle with stage IV bladder cancer.

REALITY TV STAR RETURNS TO A NATIONAL STAGE ON ESPN

Contender” season one star Jesse Brinkley (34-5, 22 KOs) will be featured in a super middleweight (168) main event against Curtis Stevens (21-2, 15 KOs) at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV, live, Friday night on ESPN 2 at 10 PM ET.

FROM CONTENDER TO CONTENDER

After starring in the once popular reality TV series, Brinkley went on to fail at the big show. However, as of late Jesse has rallied and tallied up eight straight wins which has ranked him in the top ten in the IBF and WBC.

STEVENS HAS POWER

In recently stopping undefeated Polish hopeful Piotr Wilczewski in emphatic fashion, Curtis Stevens showed he’s a serious opponent to any super middleweight.

FOX SPORTS TO DELIVER TWO CARDS IN TWO DAYS

Fox sports, which promises to air 36 live fight cards in 2010, packs the weekend with a punch starting on Friday when Gabriel Campillo (19-2, 6 KOs) boxes Beibut Shumenov (8-1, 6 KOs) in a rematch of their entertaining 2009 light heavyweight (175) fight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, live on FOX Sports Net at 10 PM ET.

RE-RUN?

Widely known as a distance fighter, Gabriel Campillo stayed true to his identity by out hustling Hugo Hernan Garay to win the WBA light heavyweight crown. In his next contest, Campillo bested highly regarded challenger Beibut Shumenov’s bid at the title.

REDEMPTION?

Before his set back at the hands of Campillo, Shumenov had fought 8 times over a two year span and had not known defeat. Shumenov has faced commendable opposition and has a credible win in defeating former world champion Montell Griffin.

JORGE ACRE HEADLINES TOP RANK LIVE ON SATURDAY

Crowd pleasing veteran Jorge Arce (52-6-1, 40 KOs) looks to pick up the vacant WBO super flyweight (115) strap when he battles Angky Angkota (23-4, 14 KOs) over 12 rounds or less in Mexico City, live, Saturday night on FOX Sports Net at 10 PM ET.

ARCE’s CAREER HAS HAD MANY UPS AND DOWNS

Starting off his career at a less then spectacular record of 20-2-1, a galvanized Arce would go on to win 26 straight before a loss to Cristian Mijares. Since the Mijares loss, Arce has gone 6-2,  and during that span has administered tough beatings in losses against Vic Darchinyan and Simphiwe Nongqayi.

MADE IN INDONESIA

Unknown to even the most “die hard” fan, Angky Angkota has fought mostly in his home land of Indonesia, usually blasting out fighters that probably shouldn’t quit their day jobs.
