UNBEATEN LUNDY GIVEN BENEFIT OF DOUBT!
Boston, MA– Hank Lundy, 136 lbs, Philadelphia, PA. SD 10 Richard Abril, 134, Miami, FL. The mutual respect between Lundy (17-0-1, 10 KOs) and Abril (12-2-1, 6 KOs) was quite apparent as they felt each other out for the first three rounds. The fourth frame saw Lundy open up in an attempt to gain control that continued through the fifth. A wild swinging Abril put Lundy on the canvas late in round six, although it was more of a case of being off balance. Abril came on strong in the final rounds but hometown cooking was on the menu and the man from Florida lost a split decision with scores of 98-91, 96-94 for Lundy and 96-94 for Abril.
Maceo Crowder, 168.25, Boston, MA. UD 4 Greg McCoy, 163.5, New Haven, CT.
Crowder (2-0, 1 KO) met McCoy (0-1) in the small ring. McCoy was dropped in rounds one and three by the more efficient Crowder. In his pro debut McCoy showed heart but it’s tough to win after getting dropped twice. Scores were 39-35 twice and 39-36.
Simeon Dunwell, 142, Peabody, MA. UD 6 Josh Beeman, 143, Providence, RI. Dunwell (11-1, 3 KOs) looked sharp from the opening bell against the rugged but unaccomplished Beeman (4-6-3, 2 KOs). Questionable tactics by both fighters kept the referee busy including a low blow from Dumwell in the third. Scores for this rough fight were 58-56 twice, 60-54, all for Dunwell.
Ryan Kielczewski, 133, Quincy, MA. UD 6 Francisco Palacios, 136, Stamford, CT. The fast handed Kielczewski (7-0, 2 KOs) looked as his combinations rained on tougher then expected Palacios (4-10-5, 1 KO). Both fighters were down in the 4th, though Kielczewski’s looked like more of slip. Kielczewski poured it on the end to earn scores of 58-55, 58-52, and 57-55.
Eddie Carminero, 163, Lawrence, MA. TKO 2 Chris Traietti, 167, Quincy, MA. Traietti (8-2, 5 KOs) was never in the fight a heavy-fisted Carminero (6-3, 6 KOs) took over immediately. Though Traietti’s corner complained, it was to no avail. Time was
