HOW PAC-FLOYD MIRRORS ALI & JOE

San Francisco, CA– At first I thought all this talk about the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather match being the biggest fight since Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier 1, was a reach, then I thought about it. Has there been an international star after Ali and prior to Manny?

FEW FIGHTERS HAVE BEEN ICONIC DRAWS

Probably not, thus in some realm that is some reality to the comparison.
With Manny being Frazier and Floyd in the Ali role, if I were Team Pacquiao, I wouldn’t let Mayweather have another fight prior to the mega-match. Because, just like Ali in 1971, Floyd hasn’t fought much in the past four years or so. Yank Durham, Frazier’s shot-caller, he told Elijah Muhammad, who was Ali’s manager, that if they didn’t take the March 8, 1971 date, that they wouldn’t get a crack at the title until 1973…or later! With less than 20 rounds in four turns of the calendar, Ali needed more time to get ready for Frazier. The same can be said for Floyd.

OSCAR FIGHT LOOKED “WORKED”
Mayweather’s pathetic two-way workout with Oscar De La Hoya, it was followed by the fight with Ricky Hatton that was marred by an overzealous referee, this as Joe Cortez wouldn’t let Hatton fight his type of fight. His choice of Juan Manuel Marquez as a comeback foe revealed the lack of confidence he has in himself. The “intangible” here is that Floyd breezed by JMM, while Pacquiao struggled on two occasions.

HOW ABOUT 15 ROUNDS GUYS?

As much as I thought Mayweather could out box Pacquiao prior, I can no longer take that stance. To have a chance of beating Manny, he will have to take chances/risks, something I don’t think he has the stomach for. This is Floyd “Money” Mayweather, who turned down $8 million to face Antonio Margacheato, the man that retired instead of fighting Miguel Cotto, who talks like he has stones like Superman, when in all actuality, they might closer resemble those of a hamster.
