ANOTHER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGE FOR PACQUIAO

Las Vegas, NV– After watching Manny Pacquiao kick the snot out of Miguel Cotto, I pinched myself to see if this isn’t some kind of dream. Could the Filipino mauler turned vanquisher, who just assaulted Cotto like he was a girl, could he really be as good as some believe? All in all, it’s hard to not acknowledge Pacquiao as anything but the great fighter that he has become. This is not the same guy that struggled with Agapito Sanchez in 2001.

PACQUIAO ON ANOTHER LEVEL THESE DAYS

Pacquiao picked up his game when he busted up legendary Mexican and first ballot future Hall of Fame inductee Marco Antonio Barrera in 2003. From that point forward Manny has lived up to the “Pacman” moniker moving about the boxing game board and eating up boxers for fame and riches along the way. As much as I thought Cotto was going to be able to match up well with Pacquiao, I was wrong.

DON’T WANT TO HEAR COTTO WHINE

While I sit here both bewildered and amazed, there can be no excuses put forth by Miguel Cotto, seeing the Puerto Rican was beaten on like percussion instruments until the end came. Not only was Manny faster and hit harder, Cotto was never, and I mean never, in the fight. From the referee’s instructions forward, Pac was the boss.

CREDIT ROACH FOR MUCH IMPROVED MECHANIC

The movement Manny utilized was another added dimension of talent that trainer Freddie Roach has brought out in Pacquiao. Key things that stood out for me was the aforementioned movement, combination punching, especially on the inside, and the fact that Pacquiao stalked the naturally bigger Cotto from the start.

KICKING BUTT & TAKING NAMES FOR A DECADE NOW

With the exception of a cut marred loss to Erik Morales in 2005 that was avenged twice, Manny Pacquiao’s last loss was ten years and 35 lbs. ago. In closing, I think it’s probably safe to say that Manny is the best fighter to come along since Roberto Duran. The fact that he has moved from 107 to 147 lbs, and dominated the higher weight classes in the manner he has makes him the greatest fighter of the 21st century.
