DOES THE GIANT AND THE PUNK EQUAL GIANT PUNKS???

New York, NYNikolay Valuev, 314 lbs, former USSR, (50-1, 34 KOs) will defend his WBA title against the UK’s David Haye, 216, (22-1, 21 KOs) from Germany on PPV over 12 rounds or less in the heavyweight (201 lbs to unlimited) division. The 7 foot 310+ lb. Valuev will be fighting for the first time since winning a controversial decision against Evander Holyfield almost a year ago. Since backing out of two proposed bouts against Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko, Haye finally seems ready to get it on against one of the European belt holders.

HBO ATTEMPTS TO SALVAGE WEEKEND WITH REMATCH

Sparks ignited when Chad Dawson (28-0, 17 KOs) and Glen Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KOS) threw hands in April 2008 in a highly entertaining affair that ended in controversy, thankfully, we’ll do it again over 12 scheduled rounds at light heavyweight (175).

“BAD CHAD” LOOKS FOR BREAKOUT PERFORMANCE

After two victories against Antonio Tarver and with wins over Tomasz Adamek after Johnson, the impressively skilled craftsmen that is Dawson hasn’t captured the attention of the boxing public in such a fashion as former light heavyweight champion Roy Jones had. A win matched with a great performance against Johnson could raise Dawson’s notoriety to extreme levels. Battle tested veteran Johnson has gone to war on many occasions against the likes of Antonio Tarver (W PTS 12, L PTS 12), Roy Jones (W KO 9), Bernard Hopkins (L KO 11) and the afore mentioned Chad Dawson (L PTS 12). Johnson will call on his vast ring experiences and try to separate himself from Dawson once and for all.
