ANDRE WARD & STALLONE IN ROCKY 7

San Francisco, CA– Just when we thought the “Rocky” franchise was over and had finally ran it’s course with the sixth installment titled “Rocky Balboa,” a film which featured an old Rocky that was panned, you thought wrong.

FAST & FURIOUS HAS DONE SEVEN FLICKS

No, the Rocky franchise is much like the “Fast & Furious” as it keeps it going without the greatest of twisting and turning plots. Nor do these Rocky flicks have the hot young chicks or screeching hotrods either.

ROCKY 6 NOT INTRIGUING AS ALI-MARCIANO MOVIE

The plot of Rocky Balboa looked to be somewhat inspired by an actual exhibition that had occurred between Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali, that was then ran through a computer along with film footage of other heavyweight legends.

MARCIANO WAS IN “INCREDIBLE” SHAPE

This actual exhibition was actually an interesting story with Marciano losing 50 lbs. He trained harder for this 1969 movie than anytime previous in his life, wearing a hair piece, the Rock of a that generation had his unfortunate passing in a plane crash occur not long afterwards at age 46.  Muhammad was trying to make a buck during the Vietnam War when he couldn’t work at his trade.

ROCKY 7 TO BE CALLED “CREED”

This seventh installment is titled “Creed.”  The plot involves the son of

Apollo Creed, born posthumous, tracks Rocky Balboa down running his restaurant and tries to get the reluctant Rocky to train him after he had decided to leave boxing forever.

SORTA’ LIKE THE “TOMMY THE DUKE” FLICK

The plot doesn’t sound too different than Rocky 5.  In that installment, the late WBO champ Tommy “The Duke” Morrison, the moniker courtesy of his claims of being Hollywood icon John Wayne’s nephew, tracked down Rocky to train him.  No, Morrison’s wild John Wayne connection didn’t enter into the story, but probably helped him get the part.  Morrison’s story on the surface at the time looked more believable than Steven Seagal working for the CIA in Japan, while teaching English to kids as his cover.

SYLVESTER STALLONE NOT WRITING/ DIRECTING

Sylvester Stallone didn’t write Creed and is not directing it.  Stallone, who is playing his Rocky Balboa character, is listed as one of the producers of what boils down to Rocky 7.  Creed is being written and directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station).  Michael B. Jordan, (Fruitvale Station & Hot Nights) will play Apollo Creed Jr., who will not have the same impressive physique of his ripped fictional daddy Apollo Creed Sr. had.

PASS UP ROCKY MOVIE & SLY KILLS YOU OFF

All original cast members in the series, outside of Stallone look to be gone by now, killed off along the way by Stallone or their failure to appear in another Rocky film.  Talia Shire (yo Adrian) probably had herself killed off by not wanting to work on Rocky Balboa.

NO PAULY IN ROCKY 7 OR “CREED”
Interesting was that 75-year old Burt Young is not listed on IMDB credits for Creed in regards to his Pauly character.  As for Young, I can recall seeing Burt wasting a few ninjas in a street fight, during the original Killer Elite film with James Caan.

MUSIC TO STAY PLUS ANDRE WARD

The only apparent original from the long time Rocky cast is music by Bill Conti.  The former boxer that played Spider Rico appeared working in the kitchen of Rocky’s restaurant, maybe he will be in Creed cooking or washing dishes.  2004 Olympic Gold Medal winner and current World boxing champion Andre Ward appears in the cast of Creed.
