HAYMON CRITICS SEEK “KRYPTONITE”

San Francisco, CA– The most often question I get on boxing of late is, “Who is Al Haymon?” Having written for others to read now for some 44 years, I am usually one to respond with a quick spontaneous answer.

But when it comes to the subject of the most powerful man in boxing bar none, I stumble, mumble and am somewhat lame in responding. The reason being, we don’t know a whole lot about the Harvard grad as his personal life is guarded like the gold at Fort Knox.
AL DOESN’T LIKE THE PUBLIC EYE
Unlike Don King, Bob Arum, Kathy Duva, I can go on and on, but I can’t remember a promoter who at some point and time didn’t take the podium and run in the old days were press conferences, you know where people like myself, Michael Katz, Bernard Fernandez, Mike Marley, would hold a promoter’s hand to the fire if needed post fight.
HEYMON A “CLOSED BOOK” OF SORTS
And yet, Al Heymon, the man being looked to as a savior of boxing in the United States, is no where to be found. A licensed Private Investigator, if I had been employed in that role, would tell you Al Heymon is alive and well in Southern California.
INQUIRING MINDS ABSORB THIS
Don King, 83, had a baby boy in his late 70s, yet DK kept it private. Bob Arum threatening his ex-wife’s step daughter with criminal charges that she had pilfered Top Rank monies, and the late Cedric Kushner being robbed a number of times by hookers who put knockout drops on their breasts (Cedric was a breast man?), those are some things you know about a promoter personally.
WHEN IT COMES TO “BIG AL”
There are reports that “Big Al” has skeletons in his closet. So what, he’s not a crook! Bob Arum admitted to Bribery, Tax Evasion, Conspiracy, all in regards to bribing then IBF President Bob Lee, yet he never went to jail. All of Don King’s criminal charges have been “pardoned.”
EVEN “DUVA DIVA” HAD SKELETAL RUMORS
Allegedly, Kathy Duva had an affair with an-ex #1 154 lb. contender Tony Ayala, or so he has claimed for decades. Dino Duva had a few dates with Colombian Dust, but on “Big Al,” you got nothing.
STOP ASKING ABOUT AL HAYMON!
Look, Al Haymon could stay “In His Room” for years like Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, date Michael Jackson’s monkey, none of this matters because Al Haymon has singlehandedly did what none of the aforementioned promoters could do by putting boxing on one network, let alone NBC, ABC, CBS, BET, Spike, ESPN. For that, boxing fans should kiss his ring!
