LOSING IS NOT AN EASY THING
San Francisco, CA– With the exception of a rare draw, there is always a winner and a loser in combat sports. Although winning is seemingly everything, there aren’t but a few men who have never lost a professional fight. Those exceptions include ex-heavyweight champ Rocky Marciano and most recently super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe.
MARCIANO & CALZAGHE WERE “RAREST OF RARE”
Those two men never had to endure the emotional, forget about the physical aspect for a second, the emotional trauma of losing especially for the first time. In some instances, fighters can put their negative experiences in the rear view mirror and move on. There are others who are never ever the same.
FERNANDO DENIED POTENTIAL MILLIONS VIA FOUL
Fernando Vargas was fouled by Tito Trinidad after the Oxnard, CA native had hurt the Puerto Rican badly. It was one of those intentional low blows that was meant to inflict pain and discomfort in order to get Trinidad some much-needed rest.
VARGAS FELL VICTIM TO CATSUP!
On the verge of a potential knockout, Fernando was never the same after Trinidad. From that point forward Vargas trained on Catsup (an addiction) and outside of the Oscar De La Hoya fight where he tested positive for Steroids, Fernando was never near top shape after Tito.
WAS VARGAS TOO GREEN FOR TITO?
Obviously not seeing he had Trinidad on Queer St. But the reason why Main Events didn’t get him a couple of more fights before Tito was that Vargas was already “out of control” they thought after a case came out of a sexual liaison in San Bernardino, CA. Remembering Vargas winning the US Olympic Trials in Oakland, CA, he looked like he had the goods. But as it turned out, Fernando was a mere “flash in the pan.”
