CHAMP POPPED BY RANDOM TEST IN TRAINING

San Francisco, CA– The MMA world and the offices of Zuffa Sports, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championships, are reeling a bit after UFC champion Jon Jones tested “Positive” for Cocaine in tests taken by the Nevada State Athletic Commission PRIOR to his win over Daniel Cormier Saturday.

In a “Random” test administered by the Nevada Commission on December 4, Jones’ urine yielded Benzoylecgonine, which is the main metabolite in cocaine. After that, he passed at least one NSAC test. On Tuesday, Jones announced he was entering Cocaine Rehab.
REASON FOR NO SUSPENSION
Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports explained the reason Jones cannot be suspended. “The Nevada commission follows the World Anti-Doping Agency code and benzoylecgonine is NOT banned out-of-competition.” Thus, they couldn’t suspend Jones, stop him from fighting, or mandate Re Hab.
COCAINE IS JONES’ OWN ISSUE NOT PUBLICS
While some people are aghast at Jones doing Cocaine, I’m not, not even slightly. The problem with Cocaine is that it’s rarely a little Cocaine. Not unless you’re on a desert island with only ½ gram. The late Robin Williams said, “Cocaine is God’s way of telling you that you have too much money.”
LIKELY DID BLOW 3-5 DAYS PRIOR TO TEST
Knowing a bit about Drug Testing, for the Benzoylecgonine to be in his system December 4, it’s likely Jones had been using sometime in the 72-120 hours prior. So what does that mean? Nothing, if JJ tests clean for Performance Enhancing Drugs and there is nothing in his system fight time, I could care less!
NOBODY SHOULD GIVE A DAMN
It is my belief that this should not have evolved into a public issue. JJ should have been warned of the test results and provided he passed follow ups, let it go. Get over it. Jones beat a great fighter in Daniel Cormier Saturday, that’s what we should be talking about!
