EVERY BOXING FOLLOWER IS GETTING BURNED!
Having just returned from a City Council meeting, where I laid out a free wireless Internet program that would save the citizens of my small city better than $6 million a year, I quickly realized that this is something that impacts the boxing fan, regardless of where you live. With Internet access costing you between $10 and $60 bucks a month per connection, on the high end you could be spending as much as $720 a year to use online service. Folks, web access is something that is supposed to be free!, FANS, EVERYBODY DESERVE FREE ACCESS!
Recently Google, the search engine, based in nearby Sunnyvale, CA, let it be known that they would wire up entire municipalities, like San Francisco, with high-speed wireless access for free! AOL, Comcast, et al, need to be eliminated. Google, and I hear Yahoo is seriously considering the same, if cities are willing to wipe out the middleman and make a free web environment, the probability of free wireless access will be everywhere in less than 20 years
CALL YOUR CITY COUNCIL, ELECTED OFFICIALS!
When I asked the five-member council if they had ever came up with an idea that would save the populace 6 million clams, not a one of them said yes. The web, and access to it, when the Internet was first explained to me in the early 1980s, was all about free access. The launching of the Internet was certainly facilitated by AOL and friends, but in 1987, the dismantled long distance monopoly that was A.T. & T. charged 85 cents a minute from San Francisco to Las Vegas at 10:30 AM on a weekday. So, are you going to write your elected officials? And, will this be before, or after, you pay your next Internet bill?
