WBO 122 lb. champ Lopez, who knocked down Mtagwa in the fifth round, was seriously hurt in round 11. Going 12 for the first time, Juan Ma held effectively and evaded the all out assault from Mtagwa in the finale to earn unanimous scores of 116-111, 114-113 and 115-111.
“YURI” WILL NOT BE DENIED
Youthful WBA 126 lb. champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (16-0, 14 KOs) walked through overmatched Whyber Garcia (22-7, 15 KOs) in four easy rounds. In the finale, a big right hand dropped Garcia face first. Although Garcia beat the count, a few seconds later referee Steve Smoger waved it off at 0:58.
CUBAN HEAVY KO 2 NEW YORK’S BARRETT
Odlanier Solis (15-0, 11 KOs) made quick work late sub Monte Barrett (34-8, 20 KOs) by knocking him down with a left hook in round two and forcing the bout to be stopped moments later. Time was 1:54. Kevin Johnson, then Fres Oquendo both pulled out before Barrett stepped up.
Pawel Wolak KO 5 Carlos Nascimento. Wolak (25-1, 17 KOs) dispatched Nascimento (24-2, 20 KOs) when Nascimento was dropped at the end of round five and didn’t come out for round # six.

Juan Carlos Salgado KO1 Jorge Linares (WBA 130 lbs) Unknown Juan Carlos Salgado (22-0-1, 16 KOs) needed only 73 seconds to knockdown former undefeated WBA 130 lb.champion Linares (27-1, 18 KOs) twice in round one and score a shocking upset and win the title.
ISRAEL SHAKES OFF RUST IN “EL LAY”
