Although Keith is being put in fights he’s supposed to win, which is the formula for netting experience for a contender on the way up, the manner in which Keith takes care of business in the squared circle has been impressive. Tonight he meets Joel Diaz, a not exactly shopworn fighter, but one with a pulse and a name in Showtime’s main event.
THURMAN IS FISTIC VIAGRA
When I look at Thurman, I see a young, hungry, semi-proven contender that is ready to challenge for a title at 147. He is the “five hour” erection the Viagra makers warn of. People want to see him fight. There are few people that “deliver” the goods like Mr. Thurman does. Whether he is a flash in the pan, something I do not think, or Thurman is the guy that could right now beat Manny Pacquiao, Tim Bradley or anybody of that ilk, only time will tell.
MAULING BOXER/PUNCHER WITH SKILLS NOT IN MAYWEATHER FUTURE
Thurman, 22-0, 20 KOs, has the skills to do well, but does he have the mental backbone? When he is put in the deep end of the boxing pool, we will then see if he is solid gold or gold electroplate. Diaz (40-9-1, 29 KOS) is rough and will make Thurman look good by standing right there and in turn Keith will forcefully send him to the showers early. As for Mayweather fighting Thurman, Floyd’s dance card has been filled out. Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan, and two other true non-entities will take Floyd to 50-0, where he will retire filthy rich and a blight to true boxing historians.
MAIDANA GAME….BUT THAT’S IT
Marcos Maidana will bring it May 3 and unless Floyd ages 30 years in one night, another Latino bites the dust.
