BIGGEST BOXING MISTAKE IN YEARS!
San Francisco, CA– The biggest mistake from a monetary point of view in recent years regarding the sport and business of professional boxing was the gaff commited by Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum in their letting the Floyd Mayweather fight get away.
NEGOTIATING IS “GIVE & TAKE”
Some people are quick to point out that Mayweather was putting forth unreasonable demands that Pacquiao, who had gained an incredible amount of muscle in putting on 40 lbs., to adhere to “random drug (steroid) testing. Floyd had agreed to Manny’s demands that he fork over millions of dollars for every pound over 147, Floyd agreed, Manny refused, and the rest is history.
WAS IT REALLY ABOUT DRUG TESTS?
Many speculate that Manny was using Performance Enhancing Drugs, and that his refusal to take the testing with no cut off date was the real reason Pacquiao and Mayweather did not split a record purse. Mo, the drug testing issue was nothing more than a Bob Arum smokescreen.
TRUTH HARD TO SWALLOW FOR SOME
The real reason is that Manny Pacquiao could never “compete” with Floyd Mayweather and the fight would have destroyed Pacquiao the fighter in a manner greater than his being kncked out cold by Juan Manueal Marquez in November 2012.
THE EXPOSURE OF A TOUGH “LIMITED” BRAWLER!
This fight have been onesided and revealing in that Pacquiao would be exposed as not being of Mayweather’s ilk. If you think I jest, just look at the four Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez fights where Pac had hell for three fights, then compare it to the Mayweather-Marquez encounter in which Floyd pitched a nohitter.
IF “STYLES MAKE FIGHTS” PACQUIAO WOULD BE TOAST!
The Pacnuts say, “Styles make fights.” That being said, there isn’t one sane (unbiased) person that can look at the recent fights of Manny Pacquiao and say that a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would be “competitive.” Please, recent form indicates that Manny Pacquiao couldn’t hit Floyd Mayweather in the ass with a tennis racket in his hand!
ARUM DID NOT WANT TO SHARE STAGE WITH FLOYD!
Even if that is so, that Manny could not compete on the same level as Mayweather, it would not have irked Bob Arum has long as he got his sizeable piece of the pie. The bottom line in my mind is that Arum, over 80 years of age now, did not want to go through an entire promotion in which he would be ridiculed throughout, at every press junket, and have to deal with Floyd post fight, no amount of money would compel Arum to have to eat a mile of sh*t!
