FIRST CONTENDER TV CHAMP MORA ON “THE DEUCE”

Jacksonville, FLVeteran’s Coliseum (ESPN2) Sergio Mora(23-3-2, 7 KOs) vs Grzegorz Proksa (29-2, 21KOs) (160 lb.) Odds/Prediction: Proksa 9-5. Since Mora won Contender #1 in 2005, he has a pedestrian boxing life. Pole looks a notch better as well as more power & youth. Proksa’s fight to lose!

JOAN GUZMAN MUCKS UP SOME MORE!

Headliner Joan Guzman DOES NOT MAKE WEIGHT 8 LBS. OVER!

Late Sub- Cosme Rivera (35-16-3, 24 KOs) vs Vicente Mosquera (32-2-1, 17 KOs) (140 lb.)  Post Weigh In Notes: Pugilistic “waste” Guzman was decked and lost last (vacant WBA 140 lb. title) via Technical Decision 8 vs. green Khabib Allakhverdiev (18-0, 8 KOs).  WBA has done all but get in ring and fight for connected Guzman.   Now you know why I wouldn’t bet Guzman unless it was with my ex-wife’s money!

GENNADY “TRIPLE G” GOLOVKIN NEXT BOXING SUPERSTAR?

Mashantucket, CTMGM Grand/Foxwoods Resort (HBO) Champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23 KOs) vs Matthew Macklin (29-4, 19 KOs) (WBA 160 lb. title)  Odds/Prediction: “GGG” 14-5. “GGG” in position to shine vs. British bull dog Macklin. Looking to see how “GGG” breaks foe down. Dropping $240 to walk with $340.

EX-NATIONAL CHAMP BRANDON GONZALES MOVES UP IN CLASS

Brandon Gonzales (17-0, 10 KOs) vs Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0-1, 13 KOs) (160 lb.)  Odds/Prediction: Oosthuizen 8-5. Very “protected” Gonzales has in past wanted to fight nothing but stiffs. South African Oosthuizen is 6’4 & a lefty. Let’s see if one time amateur standout Gonzales can rise to lofty expectations of many.
