New York, NY– Being the outcast of the highly anticipated super middleweight tournament (168 lbs) which commences October 17, Allan Green (28-1, 20 KOs) looks to protect his top ten contender status and secure his position as an alternate for the tournament should any of the participants fall out. Short notice (and much shorter) undefeated opponent Tarvis Simms (25-0-1, 11 KOs) looks to play as the spoiler in this proposed 10 round contest tonight.
GREEN IS ANYTHING BUT…GREEN!
Green has knocked out five of his last five opponents and at 6”2, he presents a lot of problems for his lighter handed foe. Measuring 5”9, Simms hasn’t knocked anyone out since 2004 but has shown descent boxing ability during that stretch. Simms will seek to use such skills in trying to duplicate Edison Miranda’s 2007 lopsided unanimous decision win over Green.
STYLES MAKE FOR GOOD & BAD FIGHTS
Despite the obvious advantages Green may enjoy, this fight has all the makings of an action packed affair. With the “Super Six” tournament just around the corner, both men are looking to take some of the hype away from their middleweight counterparts and be noticed among the best super middleweights in the world.
UNBEATEN CRAWFORD MEETS ONCE-BEATEN FOE
Unbeaten, but untested Henry Crawford (22-0-1, 9 KOs) will face off against Antwone Smith (16-1-1, 8 KO’s) in a scheduled ten round welterweight (147) attraction. Interesting match up of two equally experienced combatants with similar records looking to separate themselves from one another. With both men combining for only 17 KOs in 41 bouts, this bout has distance written all over it.
CURTAIN RAISER LOOKS GOOD AS WELL
Exciting Marcus Johnson (17-0, 14 KOs) continues to get work as he’ll meet Victor Villereal (8-3-2, 4 KO’s) over six heats or less.
