ARREOLA BEATEN ON LIKE A DRUM
Los Angeles, CA– Vitali Klitschko KO 10 Chris Areolla (WBC heavyweight title) A typical Vitali Klitschko (38-2, 37 KOs) fight as he rained arm punches on the tough but inexperienced and previously undefeated #1 contender Chris Arreola (27-1, 24 KOs). Klitschko seemingly landed everything he threw but never hurt the more aggressive Arreola. The mismatch was so one-sided that referee Jon Schorle pulled the plug at the end of round ten. A discouraged Areolla openly wept as he apologized to his fans and vowed to be back. As for American heavyweight hopes, is there anybody out there?
LUCK OF THE IRISH NOT THIS NIGHT
Dublin, Ireland– Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym KO 3 Bernard Dunne (WBA 122 lb. title) Interim titleholder Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym (39-1, 27 KOs) is now the fully recognized (sort of, see note on WBA below) WBA belt bearer with a third round demolition of Bernard Dunne (28-2, 15 KOs). Time 2:57 #3. Dunne was whisked to a hospital afterward for observation.

BRANCO RIDEN OUT OF CANADA LIKE LAME BRONCO
Quebec, Canada– Jean Pascal KO 10 Silvio Branco (WBC 175 lb. title) Pascal (24-1, 16 KOs) defeats 43 year-old mandatory (laugh) challenger Silvio Branco (59-10-2, 36 KOs) of Italy. Branco down three times, once in the 7th round and twice in the 10th round, with the end coming at 2:19 of the same.
WBA PIMPS OFF TWO TITLES AT 122
Johannesburg, South Africa– Takanlani Ndlovu UD 12 Kiko Martinez (IBF 122 lb. title eliminator) Ndlovu (30-5, 18 KOs) overcame an opening round knockdown to defeat Martinez (20-3, 15 KOs) and earned a shot at World (WBA/IBF) champ Celestino Caballero of Panama. The entertaining bout finished with scores of 117-111, 116-112, and 115-113 unanimously.
TRYING TO EXPLAIN THE WBA MINDSET
The WBA, referred to here at RingTalk.com as the “World of Bunco & Anarchy,” has two champs at 122. Cabbalerro is their “Super” 122 lb. champ, while the aforementioned Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym is just their regular champ. Seeing Celestino has an IBF belt too, the WBA calls him a “Super” champ. Ridiculous yes, but the WBA is pimping two belts at 122, thus getting to “double up” on their sanctioning fees. And you wonder why HBO’s Larry Merchant calls sanctioning bodies “sanctioning mobs?”
