San Francisco, CA– Less than two days after I wrote Ross Greenburg got the HBO Sports CEO gig after he and his compadre Seth Abraham screwed Italian-American Lou Di Bella, a Harvard graduate, out of the CEO slot, Greenburg is fired from HBO. They say it was the fact that Showtime got Manny Pacquiao, when the reality is Ross didn’t give a spit about the boxing end of HBO and has for a long time just been collecting a check! He had incompetent Vice Presidents underneath him, some call them buffoons, this as Ross went through the motions and turned HBO’s boxing into lemonade.

Overall, the HBO boxing audience has shrunk some 20-25% overall under Greenburg I was told. They signed inferior fighters, mostly guys connected to African-American agent Al Heyman who was tight with fellow African-American Kerry Davis, the Sports VP. The bottom line is that ever since Lou Di Bella, the guy that used to show up animated and full of ideas (created the real Boxing After Dark series in 1996) with his pierced ear at executive meetings, ever since Lou was conned out of his position at HBO, the boxing product has sucked!

That is what it boiled down to, while Ross produced some great baseball documentaries/mini-movies, he let Davis take over the boxing end of HBO and the product went from from 5 stars to 2 1/2. Although Di Bella is now on his own promoting, there is no doubt that his being ****** out of the Sports CEO slot when Seth told him he would never leave the gig, only to turn it over to his Jewish brother a mere few weeks after Lou announced he was leaving HBO, Di Bella was HBO boxing.

What you see now, 11 years after Di Bella was burned out of the CEO gig at HBO Boxing is a reasonable facsimile of what it was!
