PAULIE & DEVON MAKING FIGHT, NOT PROMOTERS!
New York, NY– Although it may not appear as the most entertaining match-up for casual boxing fans, it looks like there is some definite animosity brewing between former Jr. welterweight (140 lb.) champ, Devon Alexander (22-1 13 KOs) and PauliE Malignaggi (29-4 6 KOs). Although the two don’t appear to know each other well, they haven’t had kind words for one another and appear destined for a show down. Malignaggi has mentioned that Devon has made some slick remarks about him in the past and he has fired back a few shots of his own. Despite the declining popularity of both fighters, this fiasco could get interesting and end with a match up near the end of the year or early 2012.
DEVON LOOKING AT PAULIE AS STEPPING STONE
Devon recently indicated that he is planning to move up to welterweight (147) from 140 and it seems he is targeting Golden Boy’s Malignaggi to usher in his debut. Malignaggi has naturally taken offense to this, thinking that Devon has some nerve calling him out when he, “lost his last three fights”. Malignaggi has previously had less than kind words for Alexander, calling him a punk for ‘quitting’ against Timothy Bradley in his only official defeat. After Alexander publically began showing interest in Pauli, Malignaggi responded with this (hilarious) video, from his vacation in Sicily:

EVEN BOUT ON PAPER?
If this bout eventually does take place, it would be an excellent match up for each fighter given where they are in their respective careers. Alexander desperately needs a solid win and Malignaggi, like Alexander is looking to rebound and make a name for himself in a new division. Despite the fact that Malignaggi punches like a feather duster and Alexander isn’t hitting like a jackhammer himself, this could be an entertaining bout worth watching based on the bad blood alone. What do you guys think?
