San Francisco, CA– While others continue to “shill” for Floyd Mayweather, I continue to regurgitate every time he steps through the ropes. In the history of boxing, and I’m talking about going all the way back to the Marques of Queensbury era, no fighter has done the sport more harm than the talented, but gutless Mayweather Jr. Put in the position of a possible savior, Floyd has instead alienated more people than any fighter I can think of.
DE LA HOYA FIGHT LOOKED LIKE OLD-FASHIONED FIX!
When he “danced’ 12 with Oscar De La Hoya, the fight between the two resembled a 1940s setup/fix! If you are a student of the game, then you know that was the way fights were thrown back then. One, if not both guys aren’t looking to hurt one another. They threw lots of punches, but instead of going for the vital contact points, the chin, head and body, the “tankers” would instead throw a mass of punches targeting the arms, shoulders, etc.
DO YOU NEED TO REVIEW THE TAPE?
Looking back on the May 2007 encounter with Oscar, doesn’t this sound like what went down? In addition to not wanting to hurt each other, neither man put the pedal to the medal throughout the 12-round snore fest. On Saturday night, Mayweather, with Juan “Urine” Marquez standing directly in front of him, Floyd refused to even try and go for the stoppage. And while I respect the fighter that his trainer and uncle, Roger Mayweather was, one could never confuse the Black Mamba’s striking with Floyd’s “girly” pity pats.
FLOYD HAS POISONED THE DRINKING WATER
If you thought I was done, not quite. And while probably 15 million American boxing fans (see suckers when it comes to Floyd) witnessed the fight with De La Hoya, not one of them clamored for a 13th round once it was over. In fact, being in a position to convert non-boxing fans to actual fight fans as Floyd was, he instead poisoned the well to such an extent that none of these people will ever again drink the water.
TELL ME WHERE I’M WRONG HERE?
I mean, and this is directed at the Floyd Mayweather cheerleaders I have writing for me here at RingTalk.com, was there a round, a sequence, and exchange, how about a single punch you can remember that stood out over the 36 minutes with Oscar? I didn’t think so.
IS THIS AN ETHNIC THING?
In closing, he has a following in the African-American community solely because he’s black and some are into his thug-like acting. But even in that demographic there is a significant amount of fans that see Floyd for what he is: A money grubbing coward whose middle name should be “bitch” and not “money.”
THE BOTTOM LINE ON FLOYD IS THIS FOLKS!
Some of my crew are of the opinion that Floyd is a God in boxing. If that is the case, I am now an avowed pugilistic atheist!
