LEFT-HOOK LACY IN A REBUILDING MODE
New York, NY-When you consider the career of Jeff Lacy, youre looking at a guy that was underexposed on the road to being exposed by Joe Calzaghe. Reason being? His manager and promoter, Shelly Finkel and Gary Shaw, decided to deliver Jeff to the folks at Viacom, Showtimes parent company instead of going with HBO. With his style, power, and being unbeaten, just imagine the job those Time Warner suits could have done with him.
THREE OR FOUR TIMES AS MANY VIEWERS
With three or four times as many viewers, Lacy, now 21-1, after being busted up over 12 one-sided rounds with Calzaghe, would have been a much bigger name. All props to Showtime and Sho Box, but had Jeff went the Home Box Office route, and was showcased on Boxing After Dark and then HBO Championship Boxing, his scoring 17 exciting KOs would have made him a real star. Who knows, had he gone that way Jeff might not have had to go to England, and been throttled by the undefeated British World 168 lb. champ.
WHERE DOES LACY GO FROM HERE?, Is Jeff Lacy the Fernando Vargas of the 2000 Olympic team? Meaning, Jeff accomplished the task of winning an alphabet title belt in the IBF 168 lb. diadem, but can he win the big fights? And was the Joe Calzaghe fight, the Felix Trinidad fight for Lacy. Whether you want to admit it or not, Fernando was never quite the same after getting hammered by Trinidad. So again I ask, do you think Jeff Lacy is permanently damaged? Or can he return to, and or surpass the level he was at pre-Calzaghe?
