ARIZONA BOXING PEOPLE “FEELING” HEAT?

San Francisco, CA– Today I received a letter from Arizona promoter Scott Maling’s attorney claiming that Maling has “never” fronted for Bob Arum’s Top Rank. In 2005, with promoter/Felon Peter McKinn on a path that would lead to jail, I was told then that Mr. Maling reportedly “filled the void.” He denies this.
PEOPLE ARE JUDGED BY THEIR COMPANY
Mr. Maling was also irked at my calling him, John Montano and McKinn “fleas.” Maybe that was an obvious conclusion to some seeing he attended an Arizona Boxing Commission with Peter McKinn, a Felon convicted of theft, forgery, fraud, filing false police reports, suborning perjury, all the result of McKinn stealing money from a boxer in Arizona.

After listening to conversations that were picked up on a police wire, there’s no way you can walk away NOT thinking McKinn is the lowest form of human life. According to ex-boxer Daniel Lerma, (who once boxed for McKinn) he told Phoenix Police that McKinn wanted to hire his brother, “To knock out Joe Diaz. You know, burn his house down, his truck down.” Lerma said he was aware of the $5,000 check that Diaz tried to cash. Lerma says McKinn, “Voided the check and Diaz did not get paid.”

Trainer Joe Diaz’ joint, the shuttered Top Level Gym in Phoenix was shot up one night, set on fire another, and his vehicle was filled with bullet holes as well. Is that just a coincidence Mr. Maling, sir? You know, McKinn looking to hire people to harm and or possibly kill a feeble old man, torch his place, and then that’s exactly what happened!!! And I’m not saying this flippantly, it is part of the Phoenix Police investigation.
NOW MALING CANNOT DENY KNOWLEDGE OF CRIMINAL COHORTS
Mr. Maling, this is the guy you walked side by side with a fortnight ago. Sir, are you proud of such an association? Conspiring to seriously harm the man whom McKinn “defrauded” in the first place, are you down with that Mr. Maling? You can say you didn’t know, but that can no longer be the case, because you’re reading it here.
MONTANO & MCKINN HAD “NO BUSINESS” WITH COMMISSION
Both McKinn and defrocked NABO embezzler John Montano accompanied Mr. Maling to an impromptu Arizona Commission meeting. And seeing neither Montano or McKinn have licenses, were not applying for licenses, they had no real cause being there. According to a document under Arizona Governor Douglas A. Docey’s letterhead, “Mr. Maling asked for approval of a Boxing Event to be held at Gila River Arena, Glendale, AZ on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.” If that’s all there was to it, why did Mr. Maling feel the need to have these men accompany him? Is it because Arizona Boxing Director Matt Valenzuela is the cousin of the Felonious McKinn?
MALING HAS “CLEAN BACKGROUND”
In hindsight, it was not the intent to paint Mr. Maling with the same broad brush as Montano and McKinn. But by showing up and leaving with that dastardly duo Mr. Maling, you opened yourself up for criticism. Need I remind everybody, including you Mr. Maling, that if you lay down with dogs, more often than not, you will get fleas!
