CHAMPION CUTMAN SENT PACKIN’ FOR RAPPIN’ UFC-REEBOK PACT

San Francisco, CA– Having known cutman Jake “Stitch” Duran longer than just about anybody else seeing I vividly recall “Stitch” being part of the landscape while competing in the Golden Gloves. And in those “close to” four decades, Duran had always done his best, sometimes to my chagrin, to be “Politically Correct.”
REEBOK DEAL CUT UFC FIGHTERS PAY (THROATS)
Brendan Schaub is a UFC heavyweight that will never make the UFC Hall of Fame. When he has fought in the past, his pay has been around $40K, while the money he got from sponsors was $100,000. But the recent Reebok deal has Schaub looking at a Reebok check that could be as low as $15,000.

And UFC President Dana White wonders why the UFC is on the wrong side of a Class Action suit filed by UFC fighters who claim a number of wrongdoings by Zuffa Sports, the UFC parent company. Although the Attorney General’s office will not comment involving “Ongoing investigations,” they reportedly have asked for documents from the Plaintiff’s.
DURAN ON “RING TALK” SUNDAY & FIRED MONDAY
When “Stitch” appeared this past Sunday on the MMA hour of “Ring Talk Worldwide,” the longest running fight show in history, 30 + years, I asked Duran about the Reebok deal that the UFC is forcing on it’s athletes. The deal impacted Duran as he was getting five $igures for sponsorship on his ring jacket/vest.

Under the new deal, “Stitch” did and would not receive any monies and his vest would have to be Reebok’s and Generic in that they have no writing on them. After I brought up the Reebok deal, Duran took the ball and ran head on into the defensive line of the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Stuffed at the line of scrimmage by Dana White, et al, Duran was fired Monday!
UFC CLOSING ALL REVENUE AVENUES FOR FIGHTERS
The “exclusive” Reebok-UFC pact is seemingly more of the same from the UFC. Control, control, control of the fighters, their pay and their lives. It’s pretty clear that the UFC is going the WWE route in controlling the names of the participants. When the Cung Le, Kyle Kingsbury et al lawsuit gets before a jury, it will be interesting to see how Dana explains what a lot of fighters, pundits, and lawyers feel is the UFC’s need for “total control.”
