FRANK CAPPUCCINO ALWAYS HONEST & BLUNT
San Francisco, CA– Professional boxing referee Frank Cappuccino who was involved in some of history’s great fights of the 80s & 90s passed away at the age of 81 or 86. I’m not going to put any spin on this, death or not, but the man born Frank Capcino in either 1929 or 1934, was one of the finest officials of his era, a man who didn’t take any s*it from anybody.
WORKED SIX MIKE TYSON FIGHTS
An amateur that made it to the Pennsylvania state championships, a finalist in both the Diamond Belt and Golden Glove tournaments circa 130 lbs., this before a brief professional career came and went. In 1958, Frank became a referee and five decades later when he called it quits in 2008, Frank had done over 10,000 professional matches including a half dozen Mike Tyson scraps and an epic Arturo Gatti-Mickey Ward fight.
AGAIN, THE “NO SPIN” ZONE ON FRANK
Frank Cappuccino got assignments because he was good. Not one to kiss ass, at least anything remotely French, I always liked Frank who carried himself in a respectful and dignified manner. Unfortunately Frank Cappuccino, a great Paisan has left the building.
