MIOCIC DOMINATES AND STOPS HUNT

Los Angeles, CA– From the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, heavyweight (265 lb.limit) Stipe Miocic (13-2) battered Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt (10-10-1) for four rounds before stopping him in the fifth. It was a brutal outing for New Zealand’s Hunt, who was on the bad end of a 10-7 on all three judges cards in the third round. Miocic beat a guy clearly past his best, but it was still the best win of his career. The only thing “super” about Hunt in the fight was his chin, which enabled him to last through some serious punishment. Time was 2:47 of round number five.
AUSSIE WINS ON UNDERCARD
In the co-main event, local guy Robert Whittaker (14-4) knocked out Brad Tavares (13-4) in just 44 seconds. Tavares has long had a questionable chin, and I think now the ansswer to that question has been confirmed as “NO”. Whittaker landed bombs on Tavares to bring an early end to their middleweight (185) contest.

On the undercard, Anthony Perosh (15-9) lasted just 12 seconds longer than Tavares when he fought Sean O’Connell (17-6). The light heavyweight (205) O’Connell rained on the Aussie parade a bit when he crushed their boy with punches in 56 seconds.
AUSSIE’S O HAD TO GO!
American lightweight (155) James Vick (8-0) submitted Jake Matthews (8-1) with a guillotine with 7 seconds left in the opening round. This was another in a line of defeats for the home crowd that continued after this opening bout.
