OSCAR’S “FIGHT NIGHT CLUB” ON VERSUS TV THURSDAY

New York, NYOscar De La Hoya’s “Fight Night Club” monthly series has produced tremendous fist flying pugilistic action showcasing up and coming talent in short distance affairs. The format is simple; standing room only crowds in a small room displaying competitive “someone’s 0 got to go” type of brawls in a small sized ring. Oscar awards cash bonuses to the fighters for fight of the night, knockout of the night, and fighter of the night.

SERIES TRYING TO RECAPTURE THE MAGIC

After two electrifying shows, the third installment of Oscar’s “Fight Night Club” will feature an eight round bantamweight (118 lbs) main event between Abner Mares (18-0, 11 KO’s) and Carlos Fulgencio (11-2, 7 KOs). The under card will have some fight club regulars such as David Rodela (13-1, 6 KOs), who will face off against Gamalier Rodriguez (8-1, 4 KOs) in a lightweight six, and club favorite and featherweight (126) Ricky Lopez (5-0) will be looking for his third straight victory at the Nokia Theater vs. John Wampash (1-1).

AFTER GOOD YEAR, ESPN 2 ENDS WITH BANG

This Friday night main event will showcase Juan Urango (21-2, 16 KO’s) vs. Randall Bailey (39-6, 35 KOs) for Urango’s IBF 140 lb. title. Coming off a loss to the supremely gifted Andre Berto, once promising power puncher Juan Urango is looking to get back to his winning ways as Randall Bailey is hopeful to score his fifth straight win.

BOTH THESE GUYS CAN PUNCH SOME

Having punished B list fighters in stunning highlight reel fashion, only to lose against
world class opposition such as Ricky Hatton (UD12) and Andre Berto (UD 12), Urango’s experience should serve him well. Although Randall is a very skilled veteran who has scrapped with the likes of Miguel Cotto (L KO 6), Bailey has been beaten by B class fighters a few too many times throughout his career and has seldom rose to the occasion when it matters most.

TAVORIS CLOUD FACES WOODS FOR BELT

Tavoris Cloud (19-0, 18 KO’s) and Clinton Woods (44-4-1, 24 KO’s) will start off the broadcast in a bout for the vacant IBF 175 lb. title. Having recently stopped his first true test in Julio Gonzalez (W TKO 10), the young and hungry Tavoris Cloud wishes to add another respectable name to his resume. While Clinton Woods has fought the best in the division facing Roy Jones (L TKO 6), Glen Johnson (D 12, L 12, W12) and Antonio Tarver (L 12) going a total of 1-3-1, his best days are certainly behind him.
