FEMALE WORLD CHAMPS IN RUBBER MATCH
Las Vegas, NV- Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions hosted a solid card at the off Strip Orleans Hotel & Casino here Friday night. In a super lightweight (140 lb.) contest, two of the all-time best female fighters went toe to toe for the third time. Former multi-division champ Layla Mc Carter (35-13-5, 8 KOs) of Las Vegas won a Unanimous Decision 8 over former another multi-weight class world champion Melissa Hernandez (19-6-3, 6 KOs) from Miami by way of . The fight was generally close in each round as both fighters knew each other well. Mc Carter was busier overall utilizing her size advantage and jab that kept Melissa at bay. When Hernandez was able to close the gap, she was able to connect with some solid right hands but it was clear that the taller and naturally larger Mc Carter dictated the pace in most of the rounds. Scores went 80-72 twice & 79-73.

UNDERCARD HAD TWO UNBEATEN MATCHES
In a battle of unbeaten middleweights (160), Eric Johnson (8-0, 4 KOs) took a UD 6 over Kenton Sippio-Cook (6-1, 4 KOs). Good back and forth action throughout. Both landed clean hard blows and the rounds appeared close. Surprisingly all three judges had Johnson a shutout (60-54) winner in the six-rounder.
WELTERS PART OF GOOD OVERALL SHOW
In another fight between undefeated welterweights (147), David Thomas (4-0, 1 KO) defeated Charvis Holyfield ( 1-1) by Disqualification in round three. Fight had some entertaining moments. After having his mouthpiece knocked out on multiple occasions, the referee stopped the fight. Overall it was an entertaining and competitive card put on by a place that has always been good to boxing, the Orleans Hotel & Casino.
