HBO’S KELLERBOY HAD A GOOD NIGHT UNTIL…

San Francisco, CAMax Kellerman, the HBOy analyst was way off base in his questioning the heart of Robert Guerrero. Max was saying that Robert, severely cut above his right eye in a tough March fight with Daud Yordan, had a little canine in him for opting out of the fight when Dr. Smith Ketchum told the referee to stop the fight, this as Robert was complaining of vision problems. The problem here is that Kellerman’s never been butted (like I have) to the point where you actually see stars!

JUDGE VAN HOY WALL OF SHAME MATERIAL?

Not quite! Just asking a question about judge Gail Van Hoy, the Texas boxing judge that scored the Juan Diaz-Paul Malignaggi fight Saturday night 118-110 (10-2 in rounds) for fellow Texan Diaz. For the record, Van Hoy, whose horrid 2001 scoring of the Paulie Ayala-Hugo Dianzo 118 lb title fight (for Ayala) should have led to banishment, has worked eight of Juan Diaz’ 17 fights (all wins) that have went to the scorecards.

TIME TO PUT PREHISTORIC JURIST OUT TO PASTURE

Having worked only eight fights thus far this year, the timing is right to say so long to Gail. Your legacy as a boxing judge will probably be that historians of the game, people that will look beyond the result, they might refer to you a “homer.” But what the hell, you traveled the world and stayed at first class joints for free. Like Kevin Perry said yesterday here at RingTalk.com, and I’m paraphrasing, in the future all people will only look at is the result. In closing, nobody said it wasn’t close…except Gail who only gave two rounds to Paulie all night!

GHOST WOULD NOT RELINQUISH CONTROL

The effort put forth by Robert Guerrero against Malcolm Klassen under Diaz-Malignaggi, 1200 punches thrown in 12 rounds was the result of training in Big Bear, CA and sparring with World welterweight (147) champ Shane Mosley. Every time Klassen started to make a move, it was thwarted by Guerrero, who would just not let the South African gain any momentum.

“THE GHOST” IS ONE OF A KIND OUTSIDE OF RING

Robert, now 25-1-1, a two division IBF champion, like I said on “Ring Talk Radio” Sunday night, you have to admire this young man. He and his wife, the entire Guerrero family has been battling the Leukemia that Robert’s spouse Casey was stricken with two years ago. Through it all, Robert has had a lot on his plate and he’s dealt with it like a real man!

HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT DANNY JACOBS-ISHE SMITH

Ok, I did.

13 FIGHTS ON CARD TOO MUCH!

Too much for the officials for sure. Especially when one of them was present for The Last Supper!
