LOOKING AT THE “BIG PICTURE” FOLKS
San Francisco, CA– I was thinking about it over the weekend, who has had more of a far greater impact on the world stage of late than undefeated champion Floyd Mayweather? Only one boxer, that being Manny Pacquiao.
FLOYD “CAN’T BUY ME LOVE”
Granted, Floyd may have a zillion times the amount of money Manny Pacquiao possesses, but it hasn’t bought or garnered Mayweather the international respect that has been bestowed on Pacquiao as both a boxer and a man.
LET ME BLOW FLOYD’S HORN PLEASE
People don’t know that Floyd does a lot of charitable work that he doesn’t seek credit for. But being an elected Philippine Congressman, that’s hard to top for anybody, let alone the Grand Rapids, MI native Mayweather.
MORE “WATER COOLER” TALK ON PACMAN
That and Manny had a string of fights, win, lose, or draw, that in the eyes of a good number of fans, Pac’s wins were more entertaining and in two cases more damaging than Mayweather’s wins over notably Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley.
PACQUIAO HAS/HAD ALL THE DEMOS
With American fans, people from south of the border, Asia as a whole, European followers of the sweet science, there isn’t a demographic Manny Pacquiao has not conquered. Mayweather cannot say the same.
NUMBERS INDICATIVE OF MANNY IN “REBUILDING” MODE
While you point out the 475,000 pay Brandon Rios per view buys, compared to Mayweather-Saul Alvarez doing two million two months ago, don’t let that be a gauge on the worldwide feelings towards especially if Pac can put together a string of wins and go out near or at the top.
TRIPPING HEAVY ON GOD
Although he has gone from Catholic to being “Born Again” via Christianity, the one time cock fighter has abandoned that behavior, San Miguel beer, as well any thirst for flesh outside of the Pacquiao household. Word has it he prays as much or more than three hours daily. The anti-condom platform from which he stands is dangerous period.
PACMAN IMPACT SANS BOXING
There simply hasn’t been a fighter since Muhammad Ali that have made the social impact, meaning outside of the ring than Manny Pacquiao. Granted he might not be Rachel Maddow, a Rhode Scholar, but my hope is that Pacquiao just employs good common sense in representing his people.
PACQUIAO WILL BE THE PINOY MANDELA?
With the passing of Nelson Mandela in South Africa, the upcoming funeral and worldwide adulation for the man who spent 27 years in a South African prison, you have to envision Manny becoming the Philippine Nelson Mandela, if he continues service to his people.
