ONCE SILVA GOT WHACKED “THE DRAGON” DROPPED TO MIDDLEWEIGHT
Los Angeles, CA– The middleweight (185 lb.) division of the UFC just got a shot of adrenaline. Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (20-4, 12-4 UFC), who has mainly campaigned at light heavyweight (205), just made an explosive entrance with a first round destruction of Mark Munoz (13-4, 9-4 UFC) just 3:10 into the opening round. For the second time in three fights, “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” got wrecked.
MACHIDA TO FIGHT WEIDMAN AFTER WEIDMAN-ANDERSON SILVA II?
It was a very shrewd move on Machida’s part to cut to 185. Though he gave current light heavyweight titlist Jon Jones (19-1, 13-1 UFC) one of his tougher fights, Machida was unlikely to reclaim the belt he held for just two fights during 2009 and 2010. He was on the “small” side for fighting at 205. Now, Machida is on the fast track to the middleweight title, and matches up quite welll against current champ Chris Weidman (10-0, 6-0 UFC).
SHOULD SILVA WIN IT’LL BE SILVA-MACHIDA?
Lyoto has always performed well against wrestlers, and has elite level striking that could keep Weidman guessing. If Anderson Silva (33-5, 16-1 UFC) is able to reclaim his belt this December, this would set up the biggest MMA match in Brazilian history. Any fan of mixed martial arts should be salivating at a bout between two of the greatest technical strikers in the history of mixed martial arts. The atmosphere of that fight fight at a giant soccer stadium in Brazil would be indescribable.
LEGALLY “JUICED UP” BELFORT A POSSIBILITY TOO!
If Lyoto and the UFC elect to take a slower route to the title, fights against Vitor “The PEDnom” Belfort (23-10, 12-6 UFC), who takes Testosterone Replacement Therapy because of PED abuse, and Michael “The Cunt”(meant in the British form rather than American form) Bisping (24-5, 14-5 UFC) would also be worthy opponents. No matter what happens at this point, one this is clear about the UFC middleweight division; “The Dragon” has entered.
