HIV HAS TAKEN TOLL ON “THE DUKE”
San Francisco, CA– One of the exciting heavyweight fights I called for television was the 1995 Tommy Morrison-Razor Ruddock clash in Kansas City. Although he was gifted and could fight a little, the beating Ray Mercer put on Tommy in 1991, in my mind, nobody comes back from that. But come back he did to go on and grab the WBO title and net a controversial decision over George Foreman.
NEVER SAID HOW HE GOT HIV
Tommy slept with a lot of women, I could just imagine the anxiety of those hundreds of women as they had to get tested after the Nevada Athletic Commission broke the news in 1996 that he was HIV Positive and that he could not fight that same evening. Whether it was from sex or taking Steroids with dirty needles, Tommy (48-3-1, 42 KOs) never really came clean on that. When the Y 2K thing was happening January 2000, Tommy bought himself an underground mine and lived there for an extended period of time fearing anarchy. Here are two pictures of Tommy, one from his prime and the other taken recently. Tommy Morrison is 44 years old.
