KELL BROOK SLAMS CARSON JONES

Hull, Yorkshire, UKCraven Park Stadium (SKY Sports UK) Kell Brook  aka Ezekiel Brinsly Reid (30-0, 18 KOs) TKO 8 Carson Jones (35-10-3, 25 KOs) (*152 lb.) As predicted and how it shoud have been IN catchweight fight.  When Oklahoman Brooks went route in first romp, I took a couple of points off my assessment of Ezekiel Brinsly Reid.  This time Kell looked like he was the second coming of Ray Leonard, rather than Nino LaRocca.  With the win Kell is even or better than anybody else fighting right now at 147.  He beats Robert Guerrero, Devon Alexander, while for now Floyd Mayweather is considered a jr. middleweight (154 lb.) in this instance as he fights a “catchweight” (152) match Saul Alvarez in September.
MATTHEWS STUNS FOE AND CROWD WITH LONE LEFT HOOK!
Derry Mathews (33-8-2. 18 KOs) KO 10 Tommy Coyle (15-2, 6 KOs)  (135 lb.) Veteran Matthews was getting “handled” for the most before coming up with a single left hook that dropped the still green Coyle who needs to bring his act to 130 lbs., for at 135 he had a bit too much flesh!  Matthews lives to fight another day in what turned out to be mild upset.

ESPN CARD FEATURED PAIR OF GEMS!

Las Vegas, NVTexas Station Casino– (ESPN2) Chris Avalos (22-2, 16 KOS) UD 10 Drian Francisco (24-2-1, 19 KOs) (122 lb.)  Great give and take, with Avalos doing the more giving.  Scores were 97-93 twice & 96-94 for Top Rank boxing product.  Avalos now the NABO 122 lb. guy.

WAR OF ATTRITION SORT OF

Glen Tapia (19-0, 11 KOs) TKO 8 Abraham Han (19-1, 12 KOs) (154 lb.) Tapia and Han split first two frames before Han came back and hurt Tapia downstairs in #5.  In round 7, Han hits deck.  Tapia continues attack and Han’s corner throws in towel before round nine.
