Gennady “GGG” Golovkin

NO SHAME IN FEARING GENNADY GOLOVKIN

Los Angeles, CA– World middleweight (160 lb.) king Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KOs) has been both exciting and successful once he got that long awaited “shot” at a title. When you watch “Maravilla” fight, you are witnessing an elite athlete who would likely succeed in any sport but chose to invest his time in boxing. A combination of age, injuries and the rise of a new beast in the middleweight division has raised some doubt about Martinez’ status as the undisputed best at 160.

MACKLIN WAS SMOKED LIKE ENGLISH FAG

WBA belt bearer Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24 KOs) obliterated solid contender Matthew Macklin (29-4, 20 KOs) on Saturday night, and there is now a considerable amount of demand for a Martinez-Golovkin tilt in 2014. Just a year ago, I would have said Martinez would embarrass GGG in the ring. Now I’m not so sure. Oh, and before I get jumped on, a “fag” in the United Kingdom is a cigarette.

MARTINEZ RIPE FOR TAKING?

Martinez is coming off one of the worst performances of his career against the relatively unknown Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11 KOs). His movement was nowhere near the level it has been in recent years, his power looked non-existent in many rounds, and his reflexes appear to have slowed as well.

WAS IT THE KNEE SURGERY OR AGE?

To be fair, Martinez was coming off knee surgery against Murray and apparently broke his left hand again in the fight, but a bad performance is a still a bad performance. Sergio is out until next year to recover from his injuries, and at 38, can we really respect a full recovery?

GOLOVKIN HAS RAN OFF 14 STRAIGHT STOPS!

The beast known as “GGG” has now stopped his last 14 opponents, and hasn’t had a fight go the distance since Amar Amari (14-12-1) lasted for the full eight rounds against a green Gennady in his 13th pro fight (2008). Macklin continued this stoppage trend, and met the same fate as the other 23 of Golovkin’s 27 foes who failed to hear the final bell.

IS MARTINEZ ANOTHER “GOOD BOY” FOR GGG?

After battering and bloodying a game Gabriel Rosado (21-6, 13 KOs) over seven rounds, Golovkin referred to his opponent as a “good boy.” If Sergio can return to his 2009-2012 form, he has a good chance of out boxing the hard-hitting Kazakhstani. If he shows up looking like he did against Murray, I see Sergio getting “good boyed” by one of the hardest punchers in boxing.
