Ali Adams Banned Two Years!
TWO YEARS “STEP IN RIGHT DIRECTION”
San Francisco, CA– Heavyweight boxer (13-4-1, 5 KOs) Ali Adams has been suspended for two years after testing positive for steroids. The Iraqi-born professional tested positive for Stanozolol following his four-round points loss to former Olympic champion Audley Harrison (28-5-2, 21 KOs) on May 26. )Harrison fights David Price (13-0, 11 KOs) next week. Harrison has no chance here unless Price is a total fraud!

Oh yeah, Ali Adams is who we’re talking about and his use of an antiquated steroid in Stanozolol which according to the Brit’s “is banned at all times in sport, there is no reason for it to be found in an athlete’s system.” The banishment will expire June 13, 2014. As for picking out and using Adams as the British Steroid “Poster Boy,” they are singling out a guy that isn’t going anywhere. Wasn’t one of the big names, but had been in the press and of course this makes headlines all over Europe.

The two-year ban on Ali Adams is good for boxing in general. It establishes a “real” guideline for other jurisdictions in the world for testing positive for Steroids or any other Performance Enhancing Drugs. I was thinking a three year ban is probably the fairest punishment. But two years, well it beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, so I’ll take it.
IT”S ABOUT THE GAIN FOR THE RISKS
The 30-year old Adams is a “no appeal” type of infraction, yet the United Kingdom Doping Assn. is said to have tested two samples and that both “popped positive” for Stanazol. Adams was tested and caught because somebody dropped a dime on him. Until both suspensions and fines are doled out in a punitive (and not a popularity) manner, Performance Enhancing Drugs would scare the snot out of me if I were still boxing.
