FORBES MAGAZINE RANKS PACQUIAO

San Francisco, CAForbes Magazine released it’s yearly awards this week and ranked Manny Pacquiao as one of “America’s Most Influential Athletes.” Pacquiao, a native of the Philippines was the only boxer on the list dominated by NFL stars, especially quarterbacks.

BILLIONAIRE CONGRESSMAN IN HOMELAND

According to the periodical “Philippine News,” Manny Pacquiao is the richest person in that country’s Congress. What surprised me was that trainer Freddie Roach was alluding to Pacquiao being broke a few months back. But according to this weekly periodical, Pacquiao is considered a “billionaire” in the Philippines. When you convert his net worth to American dollars it is around $25,000,000.

FINISHING UP CAMP IN HIGH ALTITUDE

From press reports, Pacquiao is looking pretty good as he winds down his Boguio City training camp within a week, this before moving to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, CA. He is said to be thumping on his apparently sole sparring partner Ruslan Provodnikov to the extent that Team Pacquaio had to get him a new headgear to protect his facial features, which were becoming distorted from the pounding the Pacman has been dishing out.

PACQUIAO MEETS UNBEATEN BRADLEY JUNE 9!

Although I’m being told tickets are not moving as they had for Pacquiao fights of late, they still expect a strong turnout on June 9 in Las Vegas when Pacquiao meets unbeaten Tim Bradley. At 28-0, Bradley has only 12 KOs and will be moving up from 140 lbs. to meet World Boxing Organization 147 lb. champion Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KOs) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

DOES MANNY HAVE “RIGHT GUY” TO RIGHT HIS SHIP?

Pacquiao is coming off a disappointing performance last November against arch-nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39 KOs) in which he won a hotly disputed decision over the Mexican Marquez. Bradley, who has a propensity to box with three hands, meaning he head butts a bit, will have to bring his game to another level if he is to beat the fiery Filipino icon Pacquiao.
