UFC IN SWEDEN SEES SWEDE WIN SWEETLY!
San Francisco, CA– When the UFC comes to town, people notice. And the Ultimate Fighting Championships don’t grab headlines by robbing fighters like they do in boxing, especially in Las Vegas, the UFC garners attention because it’s exciting! That being said, light heavyweight (205 lbs) Alexander Gustafsson (15-1) figuratively beat the snot out of Thiago Silva (14-3) Saturday in Stockholm, Sweden, on a card that was televised on Fuel TV.
RIGHT UPPERCUT PUT SWEDE IN RIGHT DIRECTION
After dropping Silva in the first of three-five minute rounds, Gustafsson went to work on his downed opponent. Combining both his feet (kicks) and hands, the Swede just kept the momentum going as Silva just had no answer. Silva did land in the third round, but it was not enough as Gustafsson won with scores of 30-27 twice & 29-28. originally, this was going to be a five-round main event. But Antonio Rogerio Nogueira got hurt and Silva stepped in to replace him. I don’t think this win puts Gustafsson in the crosshairs of the winner of the Jon Jones-Rashad Evans UFC light heavyweight title fight next week, but it pushes him up the ladder a notch or two.
