San Francisco, CA– A fortnight ago a division of the California Dept. of Finance approved a drastic change in the sports of boxing and MMA. If you were to win a fight (boxing or MMA) in California and tested positive for steroids or other drugs, the new law allows the California Athletic Commission to reverse decisions post fight, something they could not do before. That being said, you can expect the Commission to start reversing decisions once it becomes law in April. They cannot do anything regarding fights prior to April 2009.
WAS TYSON “JUICED UP”DURING HISTORIC RUN? Although far more MMA guys test positive for steroids, I can think of a couple of boxing heavyweights of say…nearly 20 years ago that were on the juice. On another note could the flying off the handle that was so Mike Tyson, could any of that rage he possessed by a product of steroids? Nevada has reversed a small number of fights (MMA’s Nick Diaz for Marijuana) but being the betting capital of sports betting, that’s not something want to do often.
