50 CENT NOT THE NEXT-DON KING

San Francisco, CA– Let me preface this with all I know about Curtis James Jackson III a.k.a. rapper 50 Cent, is that he is filthy rich. Having watched him perform on one occasion, Jackson couldn’t hold a note if you put it in his hand. Over the years people of wealth like Jackson have been fascinated with boxing to the extent that their boxing hobby becomes a tax write off.

“MISSING” YURI GAMBOA ON MILK CARTONS?

Undefeated 2004 Olympic champ Yuriorkis “Yuri” Gamboa was thought to be the most exciting of the recent group of former Cuban amateur stars that are fighting professionally today. But in the last 24 months the soon-to-be 32 years old Gamboa has fought just twice.

GAMBOA FIGHT NOT IN GOOGLE NEWS SEARCH

I checked a few websites yesterday looking for an upcoming Gamboa fight, but there was none. That being said, Gamboa is probably at or near his peak, so he can ill afford these long layoffs. What I did find was an article alleging Gamboa being involved with Performance Enhancing Drugs.

50 CENT HAS DONE WELL IN MOST VENTURES

Successful in more than just music, Curtis Jackson is quite the entrepreneur. Still I don’t think he was quite ready for boxing. I don’t know if the big boys, Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions are trying to “freeze” 50 Cent out, the bottom line is Gamboa getting older day by day.

MIKEY GARCIA-GAMBOA GOOD MATCH OF SKILLS

A match with Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28 KO’s) has near super fight potential if the plant was watered right and Garcia says he is willing to move up from 130 to 135 lbs. Garcia said this week this is the fight he wants. Looking at the best of the rest at lightweight, Ricky Burns, Ray Beltran, Terence Crawford, one would think a finely tuned Gamboa (23-0, 16 KOs) would be favored over this trio with Crawford thought to be the sternest test. But Mikey Garcia, that looks like a coin-toss.

THINGS THAT CAN KILL A BOXER!

There’s an old adage in boxing, ”speed kills.” Which brings to mind another saying, “inactivity kills” too! Has Gamboa committed a great error by signing with novice promoter 50 Cent?
